Definitely a big step up from your old machine. The only thing that doesn't thrill me is that 525 GPU. I think it's still better than what you had, though.

Agreed. Try to squeeze the 555M out of them. If they refuse, get a price on that system and one identical to it with the 555M and offer to pay the difference. If you do any sort of gaming or graphics intensive programming, it very well would be worth it. The 555 is a beast when overclocked for what it is.

    Yeah I wasn't going to push it. I really wasnt expecting a 502 with 1080p & i7......more like 501, 720 w/i3...lol

I guess it pays to be nice no matter how many prior probs you have. Couldn't really argue with the replacement build anyway......

BTW only had less than 30days left on my 3yr warranty...WHEW !!!

I don't game or program...But thanks for the advise. I have seen allot of horror stories with Dell customer service. I think I'll be happy exchanging the 3 yr old m1530 for the new build.

    Yeah, i7 Quad no less.

Very nice snag. If all you're using it for is everyday stuff, no gaming or editing, then the 525 will perform admirably.

Ha, yeah. It will definitely be better in the "not melting itself" department.

I'd opt for an M15x if you can :p

It's a good exchange for such an old spec'd M1530, make sure you get an extended warranty given the XPS track record.

Anything special I should do to put it through its paces and give it a once over? Besides seeing if it will power up? LOL

I see some probs listed with the USB ports...Havent really had time to research the L502X build other than the usual outdated reviews praising Dell. Any probs with the i7 and sandy bridge as part of the L502x spec.
