Hey, so I really dig my laptop for the last couple of weeks. Currently I'm (minorly) bothered by the optimus and if its on/off because sometimes I feel like my laptop is hotter than it needs to be.

On the nvidia icon in the tray, if I mous over it, it says items using gpu: and it lists things like firefox and skype, things I leave on 24/7. When I have my moniter pluged in (which I do most of the time), it also says my moniter is using the gpu.

    so I have 2 questions.
    1. is there any software that tells me which gpu is running, discrete or integrated.
2.Does these everyday things (skype, firefox, external moniter)

In the nVidia control panel under Manage 3D Settings you can choose the programs that you want to run under the nVidia GPU or the Intel Integrated GPU.

As for finding out when the nVidia card is running besides the tray icon there is also a stand alone tool as well that'll tell you're running the nVidia GPU which you can get HERE

Thanks for the rep. I do what I can :D

Though the attachment didn't go through because of my spotty mobile broadband 3G connection so linking it is better =|
