    Just read some info online that the P8700 can run Windows 64 bit but is not built on a 64 bit architecture! Is this true b/c if so, I will switch my SXPS config to the T9550. Anyone know for sure?

    If it is not a 64 bit processor then it can't run a 64 bit operating system, that's all there is to it, no questions asked

    yea, all core 2 duo chips are capable of running natively in either 32 or 64 bit mode...however, core 2 is more optimized to run 32 bit applications than 64 bit. certain architectural features such as macro ops fusion etc work only in 32 bit mode...
