    Hey all,

My studio xps 1340 recently broke down, and since it's still under warranty i'm considering what laptop to get as a replacement. I really like the new 15z, but am seriously considering waiting a few months for the 14z to come out. However, I just realized that the 14z specs may be somewhat limited due to the smaller form factor, and one of my biggest worries is that the 1080p res screen option won't be available. Does anyone have any information/knowledge/experience to suggest that the 14z WILL or WILL NOT be upgradeable with a 1080p screen?

    Thanks!

If it were to have anything above 720/768p, it would be 900p as most people would find 1080p way too dense on a 14. 1080p on a 15"(15.6") is already borderline overly dense for most people.

1080p would be nice, but that would drive up the prices like mad. Also I don't think there is any other 14" laptop that has 1080p display..

A 1080p resolution on a 14 inch screen is possible..
look the Sony Vaio Z, it has a 1080p resolution on a 13,1 inch screen: Sony VAIO Z Review

I would also be very interested in a 14 inch screen with 1080p resolution.
14 inch screen are a good compromise between large and portability.

What do you think about the upcoming 9.7inches Ipad 3 2048x1536 screen resolution? And it is just a Tablet! Personally I think for laptops 1080p screen should be standard from 13inch.

1080p on 13 inch is overkill in my opinion. the ipad has different UI, no need to zoom, change dpi etc.

Yes. Not even with 1600 x 900 screen. But according to Dell HK, it has the size of 13 inch body with 14 inch screen in it as it has edge to edge glass
