I'm in the market for a new portable laptop and I was looking at the 13.1 inch xps m1330. It has a 8400m GS 128mb graphics card, and I own a hp that has a slightly less pos 8400m GS 64mb ddr3 version.

Is the dell also a ddr3 version? The card I have can barely play cod4 right now, will the increase memory help?

And I'd be willing to wait till august if the m1330 was going to be avaliable with a 9 series nvidia card that performs better then the 8400...does anyone know if a notebook refresh is coming soon?

Does anyone also know if there will be another 25% coupon for xps system or an even better coupon? My notebook just failed on me, but I really don't need a new one till school starts again in the fall.

I'm almost positive the m1330 has ddr3. Increasing the memory depends on how much memory you had before. you should have around 2-4gb of ram (recommend 3 if vista). there will be another dell sale on the m1330 tomorrow. yes tomorrow. It will be on the dell website and im pretty sure it'll be better than 25% off. look for it in the "days of deal" thing for home and office..of course im assuming your from US

    SWEET.

    Thank you for your response.

I am in the US, could you show me a link for the days of deal thing?

Also I'd be willing to wait till august if the m1330 was going to be available with a 9 series nVidia card that out performs better then the 8400m GS. Do you know if the video card is due for a refresh by August?

    http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

it should be at the top of the page.. Its probably going to show the price in 45 minutes given that they are in central time.

as for the videocard refresh, i don't think anyone would know for certain if there will be a refresh. If you can wait, i would personally suggest waiting to buy. but there probably won't be to much of a difference to account for.

    thanks again for the link!

Ok, I think I'm going to end up ordering now rather then later because if there is a refresh, it'll probably be more expensive and the deals will be gone.

Just one last question...will Education discounts eg. (Dell Education Personal Purchase Program) and the 0VXPPHRHPXHGTM coupon (save 25% off $1,599.00+ on this (XPS systems) be stackable?

Or at least two stackable offers?
    - Days of Deal + EPP discount
    - Days of Deal + Dell XPS Coupon

the dell xps coupon will not work with "days of deal" (or that would be one heck of a deal). As for the EPP, not too sure.

you can always check if the coupon works though (it doesn't cost anything to try).

i think most of dell's coupon strictly says only for "home & office" or "SMB"... i've only seen rare EPP coupons(like the 10% STACKABLE EPP coupon in April and December last yr)

i think that u'll get a better deal on EPP on their m1330-> "best" tier.... $1400 w/ 3 yr warranty is nice, much better than their "10 days of selling-the-same-thing-at-the-same-price-but-calling-it-a-deal"....(the 10-day thing works in EPP for another automatic 8%-12% off, depending on your warranty choice)

I'd be a bit wary about getting an 8400 video card in the 1330, personally... it's been causing some serious issues for people. There's a huge thread about it in this forum here.

I'm a little bit of a gamer, and this was the only discrete graphics option avaliable =/

But is the price good for this configuration?

"days of deals" is a good deal if your configuration originally costs less than $2196..if higher..go for 25% off coupon

Well, I just ended finals for this year, and I was thinking about getting a laptop before starts again this fall...so I guess I'm going to hold off...

Hopefully there will be a 40% off XPS coupon or something, cause my price range really is around $1,500 but I'd like a Penryn CPU and 9 series Nvidia card if possible in the M1330...also the vertical line issue seems crazy from an outside point of view...

I just pray that a good coupon will come out...the 25% one does end today too =/
