i need a laptop that i can take around my 2 story house, from my bed upstairs to the tv downstairs, and to the car and coffe shop. the question is, is it worth it to lose gaming power for portability, is the m1710 portable enough to carry with one hand?????. My main thing is that i like oblivion, but i'm afraid the 17 inch is to heavy for carrying even around the house with one hand, the other one is always occupied. Can i play oblivion decently in the m1210 with dedicated graphics. Also i sometimes have to travel by plane.

Sorry for so many different questions, but i am lost

Well, if you travel by plane, the m1210 is a no brainer. Oblivion would run at a medium/low detail, though with the extra cash you save from the m1710, you can max out ram and processor (or near max). Also, get the 7200RPM HDD. That should give you decent performance. And also, with the money you save, you can get a gaming desktp AND m1210. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas!

    nice tip confused...

yep he's right. have your machine maxed out on all areas... RAM, HDD 7200RPM, battery... and buy an external monitor with the extra bucks

I also agree. The 1710 is big and heavy I dout you want to carry it out the house all the time
