Dell replaced my XPS 1530 motherboard and heat sink last week. After I received the repaired notebook, I tried booting it off battery, it will boot, but will shutdown once the heatsink fan kicks in on a high rpm. I had to boot it using the AC adapter and once it is booted and the fan speed stabilises in a low rpm, I am able to run it on the battery.
Is this a problem due to "aged" battery? My XPS is a refurbished one. Everest Ultimate edition shows a battery wear level of 11%.
Not sure if this might be related, when they replaced the mobo, they upgraded from a 128Mb 8400M to 256Mb 8600M video card. Could this result in a higher power draw?
Any pointers on this would be of a great help. Thanks
