Has anyone replaced their palmrest on their XPS M1330?
How hard was it to do?
I looked at the service manual and it states you have to remove the display assembly? Is that really necessary?
My problem is that the silver plastic part to the left of the keyboard is slightly worn. Could I just replace that portion without replacing the whole palmrest?
Also, anyone know of any good sources of new/like-new palmrests that ship to Canada?

You actually have to remove de display, as it holds the palmrest together to the rest of the laptop on the upper part. You have to remove all the screws on the base of the laptop, and remove the display/keyboard/wireless wires.
Theres a thread here somewhere where one of the guys replaces the Samsung screen for an LG one, there are several pics there, youll get the idea. -
I know of Dell themselves, or Parts-people.com, though both $$$.

I just replaced my palm rest that I got off e-bay. Success! It is actually easier than how it looks in the instructions.
If I ever get a hold of a good LED display assembly for cheap, I know how to do the replacement already!
