i ordered my xps on friday and it says the estimated shipping date is 7/21/08. Is it really going to take that long to ship or is there hope that i will get it sooner?

Dell overshoots the estimated date in case something holds the laptop back from being produced. About 85% of the time it ships a lot earlier.

Hey, I just replied to your original thread with a suggestion on the shipping ;)

And, yes they do over-estimate to cover *everything*...So, there is a great chance you could get it sooner...Pending no delays on parts or such ;) :)

A lot of people have been getting horrible delays lately. Dell quoted me a ship date three weeks out, then proceeded to miss it by a week, and I think I was one of the luckier ones. So, there is definitely a chance that it could take that long or even longer. I certainly hope you get it sooner, but Dell's track record in the last month or so hasn't been so good.

A lot ship before the ESD. A lot get delayed. It is really hit and miss. It has seemed lately that the wait is getting shorter. I waited 5 weeks for my original. My second replacement should arrive on Tuesday.

From my experience, Dell isn't the greatest at estimating ship/delivery dates.

I've had one laptop delayed by 1 week, and another delayed by 2.5 weeks.

There really is no such thing as order expedite. They usually give out the shipping upgrade and call that 'expedited'.

Mine was expedited about a dozen times. When I asked some reps, they told me there was no such thing at Dell.

    Good luck.

they also told me the 6 cell battery and the t8300 were on back order. those were both the standard selections when customizing. what a joke on dells part when they say that the 9 cell battery may delay your order and the 6 cell is back ordered
