well, i recently bought a 1330 for myself and i ended up buying a 1530 which is a gift, but i'm not actually giving it away until december :p i just got a killer deal on one through the fleabay/microsoft live.com promo that microsoft is running to launch that website (now that their buyout of yahoo failed). i now have both laptops and have used both for over 2 weeks with a full reformat and vista tweaks done.

i bought the 1330 through the outlet and the specs are:
    -1.83gh core 2 duo
-2gigs of ram, upgraded to 4gigs and it is currently showing 3.6gigs available
    -led screen
    -fingerprint reader
    -6 cell battery
    -160gig 7200 rpm hard drive
-intel 4965 draft n wireless card

i don't use either laptops for gaming so i purposely chose the 1330 with no video card. it worked out awesome cus i can get over 4 hours of surfing the web on the battery with the screen about 5/7th lit. the 1330 is perfect for me cus i have a custom built desktop with a 24" monitor. i don't need the 1330 as my main computer.

    random ramblings:
-i password protect my computers in case they get stolen so the fingerprint reader is really handy
-the intel -n card is about 1.5x faster on my linksys g router on a g connection
-given the choice i woulda chosen a 250gig 5400 rpm hard drive for less heat and about the same speed, although the lappie doesn't have any bad heat issues due to the lack of a video card
-the synaptics touchpad kicks the 1530's alps touchpad back to the stone ages. this is the best touchpad i have ever used on a laptop. the feel and calibration is perfect, including scrolling up and down and left and right. i've never used a touchpad that i've loved before.

the 1530 was bought NIB and the specs are:
    -2gh core 2 duo with a 800mgz fsb
    -3gigs ram
-wxga screen (same res as the 1330 - 1280x800)
    -250gig 5400rpm hard disk
    -fingerprint reader
    -6 cell battery
    -8400 video card
    -dell g wireless card

    random ramblings:
-the 2 lappies aren't specc'ed the same so they are kind of hard to compare. ideally, i would have bought the wxga+ 1440x900 led screen, but i got this sucker cheap and also the lappie is not for me so i'm not complaining.
-i would advise anyone who is ever buying a dell lappie to get the intel -n wireless card. knowing what i know, i would personally pay $200.00 or more just for this upgrade. on the same router, the connection on the 1330 is so much faster than my desktop and 1530 wireless cards it's redonkulous. it's fairly well known that the intel card has less problems in general all around than the dell -n card.
-i don't know if they make a synaptics touchpad for the 1530. the touchpads are different sizes, physically.
-the 1530 has the hard drive constant clicking problem which is aggravating, i will call dell to have this resolved after my ownership transfer goes through

overall, i would buy the 1530 if it was my only computer and i could get it built exactly to my specs. i do enjoy the bigger screen, even though both lappies have the same res. the 1330 is perfect, but that's for me imo and situation, not you.

the 1330 is of course more portable and lighter. imo, the 1530 experience overall would be much better if i could only get it with a synaptics touchpad. yes, i could use a mouse but the 1330's touchpad is so good i don't feel the need to. the battery life on the 1530 is shorter due to the video card but the layout is less prone to heat problems than the 1330's small and packed in layout. i'm using a zalman nc1000 which works great on both lappies, the internal fans never come on at all. hope this posts helps any of u that were on the fence...

I got around 3.75 hours with the 8400 in my M1330 on the 6 cell. I wonder how long my penryn replacement will last. Hopefully 4 hours on the 6 cell.
