Anyone who is deciding on what screen option to choose, let me give my take on the 1080p. I love my Alienware 14's anti-glare screen, so I had high hopes for the XPS 13's matte option. I'm shell shocked on the poor clarity of the XPS's screen. It is so much more muddier/grainier than the Alienware's display. Any white website, favors more of a cream/muddy coloration. The screen is also dimmer, which adds to the grainy affair. I also would point out that the 1080p non touch model doesn't have the same trackpad. The base version on mine has no option in the mouse device settings, for vertical scrolling. That is beyond unacceptable. I'm returning mine, waiting probably a month for a credit, in order to get the ultra HD screen. The lost in translation operators couldn't assist with an exchange, of sorts.

Strange you have such a problem with the screen, all the reviews i've read so far seem very positive about the 1080p screen. If looks great in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP6oTd_OhoA
I assume you've disabled all the various screen dimming options. Maybe a duff screen? Where did you purchase it from? -
Are the touchpads really bargain parts with there not being a "Wheel" function in the mouse/trackpad settings (vertical scrolling box) -
There are no settings but two-finger scrolling does work, as well as pinch-to-zoom.

At first, my reaction was "that's it?" Couldn't quite figure out why I was not impressed. Thought it looked a little dim and grainy.
But it grew on it quickly. Maybe because it has been a while since I have used a matte screen. Or maybe missing some hidden display controls.
I do love is how I was able to sit in a chair that's in front of a window and still be able to see with no annoying glares. Definitely not going to miss the glossy screens on my other systems. -
