I say upgrade. The T8300 is a big upgrade from the T5750.

Looks great with that warranty. If you want it to last that long, you should probably get the the T8300 since it is the latest line of the Core 2 Duo.

Also, it might be cheaper to get 2 GB of RAM and upgrade yourself.

Look at mine, I got it for $1283.48 shipped after taxes.. Used a 25% coupon..

4 years of warranty is way more than what you need.. If there is anything wrong with the laptop it would go wrong within the first year.. Save that $300 of warranty money and use it on a T9300 instead of the T8300 or the T5750..

And if you don't wanna get the T9300, definitely get the T8300, a T5750 is very slow compared to penryn's

And maybe a LED LCD too, I got one and it's BRIGHT :D

What statistics show that if anything is going to break it will be within the first year? That is just an asinine comment to make.

I have to say that hasn't been my experience. I think it's the opposite actually. Since laptop parts are hard or impossible to upgrade over the years, I think an extended warranty on a laptop is extremely useful. In my experience, I've had the harddrive on my own laptop die after just under 3 years. My brother had a fan break and the GPU fail (RAM problem), all after much longer than 1 year.

Well, it is good to get the warranty if you are not on a small budget, and all im saying is that i think getting a T9300 or a T8300 and a LED LCD screen is better than getting warranty..

the deal is through dell epp,
here is where i found the deal
    http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/838512?highlight_key=y&keyword1=dell

adding the T8300 to my original post puts it at $1343.22 after 4% DPA(plus a $70 gift card)

it's more than i want to spend, but i fear a great coupon won't come anytime soon, i need it before i leave for school in august(funds will be virtually nonexistant)

should i wait for a better deal?

Get a good sales rep, and you can combine the EPP and the coupon codes / promotions.

And get a longer warranty with complete care. Even if you plan on getting a new laptop in a year or so, it will up the resale value.

I just ordered the following 1530:

    T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB, 3MB Cache)
    4GB (free upgrade from 2gb)
    5.4 inch LED LCD (1440x900)
    256MB GeForce 8600M GT
    320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
    Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD
Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card
Free Upgrade to a 9 cell Battery
2Yr In-Home Service, Parts Labor, 24x7 Phone Support
    Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Internal

For $1,243. It was just over $700 off with the $599 off from summer sale, 4% EPP and 4% DPP. I'm pretty happy with that. :)
