hey guy i just got my laptop 2 days ago, i love everything about it, but the loud optical drive.., do u think dell will credit me $100 atleast, if i tell them tht iam going to return it ?
-
I don't think you will get a credit from Dell for that.
Is it loud when loading/ejecting CD/DVD's, or during the entire time the media is in the drive? -
well its really loud when inserting/ejecting, but yea it is also noticable loud when it is reading the disc :S

inserting and ejecting sounds like a pretty loud activity to me. sounds kinda whiny. i mean, if its atrociously loud there might be a problem. optical media drives just tend to be pretty loud though...
-
well it is really annoying tho :S
-
It's what slot loading devices do. My wii is just as loud as my m1330. I got the "poor" MAT****SU optical drive on my m1330 but it's silent when watching a DVD/playing a game so I'm fine with it.
-
bt do u guys think dell will credit me some money??
-
Doubt it, if it annoys you send it back and get another one.
-
No dell will laugh in your face. Seriously, you are just trying to get cash for nothing. If your not happy, return it.
-
-
It's a slot drive right? They're all loud. That's the price you pay for sleek design. My wife thought her Macbook was broken til I pointed out it was just a disc in the drive.
-
I hope it sounds like he's in a wind tunnel with two jet planes powering up.
-
personally, don't send it back and get another one if you can't stand it. there are two optical drives for the m1330.
one is very loud when ejecting and inserting a disc. but not as loud when the disc is spinning.
one is very loud while the disc is spinning. but not as loud when ejecting or inserting discs.
my guess is you got the first one. if you think it's "unbearably" loud while it's spinning, return it and don't ask for an exchange because you won't get one quieter. personally, i think you got the better of the two.
sounds like you just want $100 though. in that case why not call and ask? i think calling because you are hoping to get $100 bucks is not the right way to go about it. either call to return the thing, or call and ask for an exchange...and maybe, just maybe they will offer you the concession coupon. -
I hope Dell hires two guys with leaf blowers to terrorize this guy for a few years.
-
thanks for help
-
if u have any problem with whaat i asked, then get the **** out of here -
sorry for being rude, but i didnt like how u answered me
-
I tried to give a helpful answer.

The title of this thread should be "should I be a pan-handler?"
-
Thread closed...argumentative, and this is leading to nothing but a flame war and more insults.
Saying "$100 or else" just tells me you are asking us if Dell will fall for it. How about asking them to fix it?
should i return my xps m1330
