Hi guys just got my new 1530, :)
I have a small issue as I was checking the Notebook I noticed a small gap between the metal trim and the plastic at the front edge next to the sd slot, the gap is about 6 inch long and as thick as a credit card, you can squeeze the case together to make it flush. Does any one else have this gap? small issue but it's bugging me

Any feed back would be appreciated. :)

I would return it if you just got it. That kind of error in workmanship is unacceptable. I returned my first m1330 for a very similar problem.

    Hi there,

    Congrat's on your 1530, first of all ;) :)

And, sorry about the *small gap*...No, I don't have this problem on mine. :)

You may want to wait and see feedback from other's here. ;) :)

But, if it is bothering you, and it is your brand new lappy..you may want to consider getting a replacement ;) :)

Not sure if you really have to RETURN it. Just hop on XPS tech chat, and they might have a solution you can do. Or may just send a tech to your house to replace the part.

Hopefully he can have a quick solution, being it brand new! And, depending on the coverage he has ~ the technician might be able to come to his house to fix..if he does, that would be great for him ;) :)

Agreed. You bought a new computer and it should be in pristine condition. It probably got dropped during shipment or something.

I still don't understand the logic of getting another one. If it was a hardware issue, then maybe. But a cosmetic issue? It could very well be, that a screw is missing or something simple like that. XPS warranty is next day service. I mean before going through the hassle (well not really that much of a hassle considering), I would hop on XPS chat and see if they have a quick solution.

Why not? He did not get what he payed for. It was a mistake on there part. I see the logic in getting a new one, but I also see the logic in just finding a quick solution. Both are actually pretty logical.

the computer is already new... so sending it in & waiting another month for them to build another puter is utterly pointless if they can send a tech to your house tomm & fix the problem.

I was under the impression dell ships your new computer if your current one is defective before you send the defective one in? Guess i'm wrong?

Easy, I think you are correct. Think being a key word.

But here are the possible issues with this. If they need to build him a new computer, that could take a week or two again. Or it is possible they will send him a refurb. I.E. "Replacement parts/computers can be refurbished".

thanks for the replies, I’ve gone through the whole replace thing with my old 9100 when i first got it. They sent me a band new replacement before i sent my original one back.
I agree it could be a easy fix, but a brand new notebook shouldn’t need a fix!
I just wanted to see if any body else had this problem of a gap between the case and metal trim?
I now also noticed that my hard seems to be louder then it should be. It’s a Seagate 160 gig 7200rpm, so now I’m thinking I should call anf get a replacement. :(

Sounds like a good idea, esp. if you are finding more problems ~ now  ;) :)
And, it is...your brand new notebook ;) :) Good luck  :D
