Hi,
I received my 'new' xps m1330 and after activating the wifi card any sound playback via all sources gave crackling, breaking up. Updated drivers no change - maybe even worse.
Contacted Dell a replacement arrived after another 4 wks, first system came after 6 wks, new replacement system arrived wrond colour, scratched, and same issue. Took Dell another 5 weeks to collect and reimburse.
Just wondering if anyone else has insight into the above sound issue, UK distribution. I believe the second system was someone elses return anyway.
Should I be a total idiot and order a 3rd or try another model sau samsung q45?
cheers![]()

I had the same problem, and it's a known issue. Update your NVIDIA driver, but not to the one that is listed in the Windows updater. I forget where to find the driver, but I do have the file (44 MB) and I can upload if necessary. Also, turn off 802.11a. It takes about 20 minutes for the problem to go away. It's a bizarre solution, but it does work and I'm not complaining.

Try http://laptopvideo2go.com/ for the Nvidia driver.

Yep, that's the place, download the one there.

I had the Intel® Integrated GMA X3100 driver, not the NVIDIA

So, I just bought an M1330 and was having the same problem you're describing. I read through this thread, disabled "A" and upgraded my video drivers without it solving the problem. I finally got Dell tech support on the line (yeah, I was pretty ****ing desperate), and they told me it's a known issue. The fix, which makes more sense than video drivers or wireless card is to go to "playback devices" by right clicking on the sound icon in your system tray, opening the "speakers/headphones" item, going to the "enhancements" tab, and checking "disable all enhancements". Click apply or OK and you should be good to go. This has verifiably worked for me, so I hope it works for everyone else too.

Thank you thank you thank you! I've had my new M1330 for two weeks now and love it other than the occasional snap, crackle or pop I would get from the audio (music, videos, etc.) I tried disabling some of the Creative Labs programs and still had the problem. I started to think maybe it was a hardware issue and was literally picking up the phone to call Tech Support when I caught your post! I disabled the enhancements and it sounds great now. My music actually sounds pretty good considering the size of the speakers. Before your suggestion, any music had a muddled sound to it, almost like it was over modulated. I'm so glad I don't have to go through the hassle of sending it back now! Rep coming your way...
