    speedfan fire icon on xps 1710

    on speedfan it says temp1: 56C and has a fire icon, it also says this Found ACPI temperature (55.5C) so i believe that is temp 1, should i worry about the fire icon

    No, 56C is a normal temperature for a laptop.

    56C is kind of high for your notebook to be at idling.

    That is a default "warning" icon . . . you can actually modify the temps that it begins to report that. If you know the actual speced limit, you could set it up so that it only shows the icon when you are within, say 5c-10c.

    I am starting to think that all of these notebooks run too hot given the technology within them, but I don't control the way these things get made. I will say however: Would it kill these companies to get another fan in there or some larger heatsinks / fans? I'll take quiet, cool, and heavy over slim and sexy any day - long lasting is cooler than good looking!
