My only question here is whether or not the LED version is noticeably thinner than the normal LCD version. If it's not noticeably thinner, I'm not going to bother with that option. I know the LED is brighter, but in imho, if it's not noticeably thinner, it does not warrant a $100+ premium.

edit: now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone help me pick? LED or 9500 GE? They cost about the same for an upgrade.

edit: I just ordered a refurb from outlet

if you gonna game, you need an outlet and then you can take the 9500 and regular screen.
if you need a lighter, thinner and less hungry laptop, take the led. the led is better in every way; power, brightness, weight, thickness.

so its up to you now.

that was what I was thinking. I find gaming on a 13inch pointless anyways. What I need is something that can run 1080p x264 mkv videos without a problem. If the 9400 can do that, then I'm sold.

i guess the 9400 is enough, at least what nvidia markets it as to be.

Im pretty sure that weight wise, the ccfl and led will be practically similar. Thickness wise, they also seem to be the same. Power consumption will be less on the LED though, but probably not too significant. Maybe you will get a few extra minutes. Reliability wise, LED will also be better than ccfl.

I didn't get the LED screen for it's thickness. While LEDs use less power than CCFLs, I mainly chose it because CCFLs change color over time, going from a bright white to a tan-ish color.

The LED is great. This isn't a gaming machine, in fact when I do game I turn off the hybrid and use the 9200. Most games are choppy when I use 9200+9400 together.
