I was wondering if it is normal for the slot dvd drive to be extremely loud while installing microsoft office. Not only is it loud, but it also vibrates!!! Yea, you heard me, the entire laptop was VIBRATING while installing office! Is that normal? lol

Is it only with that disc? Did you burn a copy of it on another system and try using that copy? I had a blank that I was burning an ISO to today, and it made my XPS 13 vibrate a bit and it was noisy too. However, most discs are well behaved in it.

so the drive just sucks, huh. Normally, the drive gets load when I put a disk in, and it stays loud for at least half a minute. Cheap drive.

LOL! No, the disc wasn't balanced all that well. It happens from time-to-time. Install media has been great (Vista, Dell's Vista disk, Windows 7, a variety of other media, Office 2007 Ultimate, etc), but that one blank was a bit shaky. The drive is great.
