I think that's normal... I don't have exact figures, but my battery was around 30% and I plugged it int for 2 hours gaming, after that I noticed it wasn't fully recharged yet... seems close to what you are saying...

that fits my experience, it'll charge faster btw if you turn the computer off because there's only 130-watts available from the power supply and powering the machine will take precendent over charging the battery if it's turned on.

yeah, you are gaming and charging at the same time. ur adapter has to power ur laptop while its on as it charges and it can only do so much at a time. its perfectly normal.
since were on the subject of batteries, is it okay to have it hooked up to my outlet 24/7? I was told to discharge it 2x and it gave my battery a 5% wear so now im afraid to run on battery.

yea, it depends on what you do whil,e charging the battery.
if your playing a demanding video game, the battery meter may not move at all. its totally "normal"--my 1647 battery meter didnt move up a single % while playing war of waorldcraft,i got used to it now.

If you're leaving your laptop hooked up 24/7 for at least a couple weeks, I suggest discharging the battery to around 40% (store it somewhere dry, i.e. drawer), then run off AC/Outlet power alone. It will protect your battery from the heat that can detrimental to the health of the things (I believe overcharging is bad too, not exactly sure though). Just quickly get used to running of outlet only because if you accidentally trip your wire, then you're screwed as the laptop will obviously go off... I've done that a few times... :D. Although it might be slightly outdated, you can check out the Notebook Battery Guide, as it details a lot more.

3 hours sounds about right for charging a 9 cell. That is around about the time it takes for my 1645 and for my thinkpad.
