    Hey all,

Does anyone have experience/information regarding replacing an xps slot-loading DVD drive with an HDD caddy to put in an extra HDD? Something like the newmodeus HDD caddy here?

I'm thinking about doing this with the new z line models...

anyone? I'm hoping someone has tried this with the new 15z, but since it's only been out for a couple weeks I'd say the chances of this are small. :p

Newmodeus will probably have a caddy for the 15z in due time. Unless the 15z uses a particularly slim drive or something equally funny, I'd imagine an l501x/l502x caddy working as well, though.

I just replaced the optical drive in L502x with a newmodus caddy & the original HDD (now sporting an SSD). Other than a very tight screw to release the optical drive, things were simple, system booted no problem even with 2 system disks - original disk even performs +10% faster in this location!

You can even swop the optical back on the rare times you need it, or like me buy a x12 external Blu-Ray burner... :)

    Cheers, Greg.
