I've spilt a whole cup of hot tea on my wifes new xps, what are the chances that it's dead. I've emptied all the tea out and left it is the sun of a hour or so. But it wont boot up and the screen comes on and it's either all white or covered in multi colour lines.
I rany xps support and they where about as much help as a sick headache. The indian girl really didn't have a clue. The thought xps support was meant to be better.

Could be damaged, but could also try to take pieces out like hard drive, memory, battery, and anything else removable and give it much more than an hour in the sun to make sure everything is dry. Wouldn't hurt. Had to do much the same thing with my car about a week ago.

Those multiucoloured lines are a known issue connected with an overheated GPU. If you call back and tell them about it (and maybe omit the part about the tea) you should be able to fancy a MB replacement
Best of luck -
didnt you have accidental coverage??
because this seems the ideal time to claim one

Tea with sugar? That's the worst since sugar is carbon and carbon is a conductor. Milk is a little better.
You'll need to dismantle and it and wash the components such as the keyboard and then leave them to dry.
And don't try to start it until it is dry because the liquid might short out some of the electronics.

That is the scary part... I had to call regarding my lappy and it was frustrating that you get the impression that they are unsure on how to diagnose issues etc...It sounds like they read of a script to follow and based on what you tell them the flip the pages I guess doesn't give me much confidence... cheers!!!

Well you could always get accidental coverage today and then call then up tomorrow and say "What do you know, I already broke it."

They are coming out on monday and the cost is £387 for the new motherboard keyboard labour etc.
Do you think it's worth taking up the point about the woman telling me to power up a wet computer further. I can't really prove the damage wasn't dont when the tea first went on it. -
