unless something has changed, the 1530's have an alps touchpad and not synaptics. The synaptics drivers will work, but you won't have any scrolling or other advanced features.

Well I am right now with Alps drivers from Dell....

But I also know that there are many people who would argue with what you have said, because for many, they infact got all the touchpad features working with the synaptics drivers... So its a bit confusing eh!!! :) :) but yeah, some times just the Alps from Dell works fine as well.. don't know why in some systems some scrolling features and such refuse to work but are back functioning well with the synaptics.. I have no idea about the tech basis of these things. Anyway... doesn't hurt to try out couple of drivers and see which is working fine, and once we find it, just stick with that :) Cheers.

I just hate the touchpad on the m1530.....

Seems so much more frustrating and awkward to use then my last laptop.

I cant pinpoint what it is, I think it has a lot to do with the material.

by the way, why do you want to use other drivers other than the one that is installed on your system? wutz the feature set between drivers?
