I got a 355 bluetooth module the software installation is at the part where it is asking me to enable bluetooth by pressing fn+f2 or radio on/off. I am pressing fn+f2 but nothing is happening. Exactly which keys do i press?

The light for bluetooth is there on the left side of the power button, I also tried turning the wireless switch on/off,

Ive never installed any software for my bluetooth module. Windows usually picks it up, installs, and it just works itself. Never needed any extra software whatsoever - didnt even bother with the Dell supplied drivers for it.

Check your BIOs. There is also a setting for Bluetooth in there. Thats where I set mine to come on with the wireless on/off switch.

There's a patch on the Dell website for this. I had the same problem. Try doing a search here or on the Dell site, for Bluetooth Patch

There are two issues. One is the BT got turned off before installation that requires the patch to turn it back on. It is usually the case when one upgrade the OS. The other issue is related to the driver installation. You need to use the inst.msi instead of the setup.exe to install. Then, when it prompt for fn+f2, just hit cancel and continue the installation.
FYI. There is a newer version of driver for Dell BT355 at Anycom.com. Download the driver for Anycom USB 250 and it is compatible with Dell BT 355.

I tried installing the install.msi thing, it got installed but there was no bluetooth icon anywhere.
Btw i just purchased the BT 355 and put it in myself, even in the bios is says there is no bluetooth device, its turned on (from bios) and the light is on, so its obviously connected.

I had problems when if I did not install the dell BT software I would get an error that says "Failure to start bluetooth stack service."

It took me awhile but eventually I found that I could use the little swich on the right side of the laptop to turn off the bluetooth and wifi then just turn the swich back on and the installation continued.

I also installed the BT355 myself and had the problem you described initially. The patch did not work for me and I finally get it to work with the Anycom driver using the inst.msi method. Did you try the Anycom driver?

MAC5217.. u rock. I spent an hour with tech support due to the bluetooth problem and even went as far a me opening the bezel to reseat the card. Opening the bezel was not fun at all. I swear I was going to snap that plastic bezel! Again thanks for the link. I wonder why he didn't know about it! He wanted me to re-install to original spec tomorrow but I'll let him know about your link. Again thanks, you saved a lot of grief.

    The patch R159805.EXE
solved my issue with not able to connect any bluetooth device or even see the bluetooth icon. (m1530 swedish, vista ultimate 32bit)
    http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=213714
I had the wifi button enabled when I installed the patch and the Blutooth icon was visible after installation. m1530 is not supported in the info of the patch but it works anyway.

Quick fix for this problem : Extract the drivers to some folder, cancel the setup that starts automatically. Then go to the folder to which you extracted the archive, and somewhere there would be a file called setup.msi or setup.exe. Run this, and this thing prompts to on the bletooth to be ON only towards the end. Now just cancel the prompt and voila the setup would have completed succesfully. BT works fine after this. i used this method for all my OS reinstalls.
