My original battery that came with my 1645 had a battery that had a full charge capacity of like 6900 out of 7650mwh, And within a month dropped to about 6500mwh. Measured using cpuid hardware monitor.
Last friday i received a brand new battery. Full charged was 7650mwh but after 1 complete cycle its dropped to 7100mwh. Now after another complete cycle. I am at 6800mwh.
I know batteries are supposed to die over time ,but this is ridiculous the battery cant even stay near the designed capacity.
Any one else have this problem?

You measure this with HWmonitor?

Holler up Dell as OP suggested above. Since you have the warranty, take advantage and have them ship another one and see if the problem is continual. They will replace & send you a new one overnight, again.
Here are my readings via HW Monitor (1647)
Not sure if that helps:

But, it the problem is c -
Since I don't use the battery much, I'm going to wait until the laptop is around 11 months old, and complain to Dell if I think the battery needs to be replaced. Most lappy manufacturers only offer a 1 year warranty on batteries. -
So do all batteries (whether they ship with the new laptop, or you buy it new separately) come with a 1yr warranty?

Dell Laptop Battery FAQ
Why does the battery have a different warranty period than my system?
A Dell's standard battery warranty is one year. Batteries are a consumable item. All batteries degrade with time and use. The warranty is very similar to common auto warranties which exclude consumable items such as tires.
For copy of Ltd Hardware Warranty, write Dell USA LP, Attn: Warranties, One Dell Way, Round Rock, TX 78682 or see www.dell.com/warranty.

Does anyone know how much degradation you need before dell will replace the battery? I'm at 6429 mWh down from 7800 mWh in only 2 1/2 months.

Are there any aftermarket battery's for the XPS.. could had swore there was Panasonic one

I have a 6-cell that is about a year old, and it's got 13%. My 9-cell has about 8%.
The 6-cell used to have 21% wear. Just drain it a few times. I use HWMonitor Pro 1.09. -

Just be wary of what Dell sends you. Before I discovered HW Pro, I got sent a refurb battery when asking for a replacement a few days before my warranty was over. Needless to say, they sent em a crappy battery that is now 66% wear (2 years later) while my brother who bought it around the same time as me with the original battery is around 15% wear.
uhh This 9 cell battery sucks.
