Is the computer turning off at a set time? Did you check your power settings?

its under warranty use it! If you fool with this and mess it up it may void the warranty.

I bought a new Laptop so I would have such a warranty.

The temps look fine, its something else.

I think your HD is the one to blame. I had a case like that before.

    Hey!
Since you are only 10 months into your warranty...I think with the issues you are having, it would prolly be best to contact Dell and take advantage of your warranty.

Have them fix it vs. chancing anything worse happening to your lappy! ;)

The answer is right there infront of you.... bad RAM - easily the cause of BSOD's. I would also run Dell diagnostics just to make sure its only the RAM that's at fault though.

Also did you have these issues BEFORE you bought the bigger RAM modules?

As a tip - always useful to run diagnostics on any new essential hardware you buy like HDD's, CPU's, RAM etc - if they pass with flying colours then you are good to go and are safe in the knowledge you have fully functional products.

    Here's an easy test.

Remove all but one stick of RAM and test the machine. If it works, swap in a different stick of RAM. Rinse and repeat until you find the faulty module.

Guys, i have found the faulty RAM,did replace it with the original 1gb one. so i m having 3gb ram now. once i have changed the ram i did refresh the Windows Experience Index. and it did drop down from 5.1 to 5. and today i left my laptop on. once i got back home at night found it running but screen black. I had no choice but to press the power button to get the machine restarted. i still didn't understand what is making this strange problem. it's not even sleeping mood nor hibernate.

Run memtest+. It's a free download. Download to a cd or load onto a flash drive. If you don't see any errors after a few hours your ram is fine. Often times the errors will show up after a few minutes.

    http://www.memtest.org/

    Good Luck.

Also, If I'm not mistaken you need a matching set of ram to run at dual channel mode.

Yes, put the original memory back in it and test it. Replace both of them. I did the one stick at a time thing, and the laptop was unstable anyway (XPS 13). Called Dell, and they had me run memtest (no issues) but fedex'd me a new set of RAM (8GB, 2x4GB). So far, so good. However, if your stock RAM is fine, then it's on your dime to return that cheap memory you bought. RAM is something you don't normally want to go cheap on at these speeds.
