I bought my m1530 around 3 months ago. I was impressed when i first got it everything worked fine. The next day i was shocked. Leaving the laptop running with the screen down made my touchpad go absolutely nuts! At first i thought it was the warmth from the laptop being closed while running. It is heat controlled. I was wrong! My touchpads been screwed since. Not only does it go nuts it constantly clicks. Try browsing the web with your mouse randomly clicking everything! I went on facebook and i was poking people i didn't even like!
No biggie, I don't even like using the touchpad would be nice but its not necessary. So i went out bought a nice mouse and disabled the touchpad.
problem solved.
Two months later I start getting this status for my battery 'plugged in not charging'. OK, now that's a problem. Whats the point oh having a laptop with no working battery or touchpad. Maybe its the AC adapter. So i get a new one from dell. Didn't work, Now I have to get a new motherboard I guess
Anyways i really don't feel like sending my laptop away

Did you get an in-home warranty on it?
Even if sending it away is your only option, it will be worth it. You don't want a ruined laptop after 3 months. -
Dude, get on the phone or in a chat session, tell them that everything is tested, you already talked to a tech on the phone, whatever, and tell them you want a new one advanced to you right away. You are probably defective.

I second mgh!

yes, get a replacement ASAP!

Just FYI, you might want to adjust your power settings so that it doesn't always go to sleep mode when you close the lid just because it does get annoying, especially if you want to close the lid while its shutting down. What ends up happening is if its in the process of shutting down and you close the lid, it goes to sleep mode in the middle so the next time you open your laptop lid, it will wake up trying to shut down.

yeah i learned the hard way. What happens is it goes to sleep and it wont come back up it just restarts. I'm guessing cause the battery is dead. yeah i talked to them on the phone the first tech was nice the second was an idiot. But i'm gonna have to send it away for a couple weeks which sucks cause im moving in a couple weeks so its gonna have to wait till i get settled in to my new place.
Other then that its perfectly functional. I have it set on high performance but sometimes when playing a game or something it was slow down for a secound then come back like the processor speed is dropping and coming back. Maybe the processor throttling is kicking in cause the battery is dead. -
oh i was trying to get them to send me a new laptop and send this one back when the new one came but no luck. they want me to send mine away and be laptopless
-
Yeah... I just sent mine in and was back in less than a week. Haven't had time to check everything yet but it was fast. Not sure if that is the same in other countries though. Once the return period is up you pretty much have to send it in unless you have the in home coverage...but really I would rather not watch anyways !!!LOL!!

benmarkle99, what BIOS version are you running?
-
I have the exact same trackpad problem with my Inspiron 1520. If I hold my finger on the touchpad it will begin to go nuts and start teleporting in all directions
I'm going to call Dell tomorrow to get it replaced.

a07 ive tried a08 i believe then downgraded now i cant upgrade because the battery is dead..

Ben, if you haven't already you ought to try one more session with dell, and get a little pissed already. There is no reason you should have to wait 2 weeks over the repair. Demand better service! I am not surprised that they wouldn't give you a new one where you are several months into usage, however I wouldn't let them tell me I have to wait more than a week / week in a half at the most. Next day shipping is just a mouse click away for those people, you can do it!
