only two things in a notebook require dedicated heatsinks: GPUs and CPUs. take your pick :)

It is possible to measure temperature on it?
HWMonitor reports some ACPI temperature. It is it?

I do believe that it's usually the THM_ temperature in HWMonitor. Not totally sure, though.

you gotta love people who randomly take out their motherboard and try to mod/replace things without knowing what they are working on LOL

The item circled in Red is the Intel GM/PM965 Chipset. The ACPI/THM_ value is the temp of the GM/PM965 chipset.

I was working 2 years in DELL factory, building 10 notebooks and 30 desktops per hour. Will rebuil yours in a minute. :D
The biggest enemy is yours own fear - I love people who never did anything cause they are afraid to try it.

Thanks yellowlt4 for simple and straight answer!!!

You built that many machines without really knowing what the basic elements are?

man, I'll never buy a computer from DELL again =D

if it employs such a stupid ppl like you, then for certain. Even a baby would recognize a chipset there (as it is a base stone of any motherboard unlike upgradable CPU or dedicated graphics) so at least I hope DELL got you fired :)

either you are trying to make an impression on us or you were extremely lucky to get a job in Ireland/Poland or whichever factory you worked for...
[edit] I see it's Ireland, omg hope my ADAMO won't be built by ppl like you ;p

and you've built Desktops as well? Just to let you know, they do have chipset chips too ;)

    omg what a joke

As I said you gotta love people who mod stuff and don't even know what they are modding. Even if we take your most likely lies about working in a factory as fact it's more illogical than you just admitting yah I didn't really look into the matter fully.

I'm not fearful of taking apart my computer and putting it back together or modding it. I like most other intelligent actual computer people even considering modding something read up and do research before going anywhere near my computer with a screw driver.

How can you logically say I think I'm going to replace the thermal paste and not know what the chipset looks like? Were you just planning to open the computer and put paste where ever the hell you think it needs to go? Oh wait you already proved that is what you did. Stupid Stupid Plan!
