when i start up internet explore for the first time, i get a thin line that run's right across my screen, but when i minimize IE and maximise it again its gone. it only seems to be there when i first start up IE.

this was a response i got from another forum.

"My psychic powers tell me you have a graphics card with poorly written drivers. You should check to see if there is an update available from the manufacturer. Then install it. Reboot. See if your problem goes away"

i have had a brand new motherboard fitted today, and this problem was there beforehand, i also have the latest drivers installed.

Do you have this only when you start up IE or do u see similar with any other programs as well?? If its just in IE, I don't quiet see how it would be some problem with the graphics card / drivers... because in this case, this issue / effect / line should be universal, don't you think so???

I would think / imagine that its probably just one of those toolbar in IE thats buggy or whatever... because you say when you minimize / maximize IE, it goes away!!! so... may be some issue with IE.. I am not sure.

    Try reinstalling IE????

(And just a purely random thought this > play around with the Aero basic or turning it off completely and see if it persists??)

could be IE messing with your graphics drivers, try another internet browser, such as mozilla firefox, or the new google browser : Google Chrome.

i myself prefer firefox because im used to it and its much better than poor old Internet explorer

I've seen this a few times on my M1530 when I was on Ultimate 32 bit with the Dell drivers. Have not seen it since moving to 64 bit with the 177.98 drivers.

In my case it would just happen mid session while browsing...

I don't think you can uninstall IE7 in Vista. It's tightly integrated into the OS.

Well.. sorry for that confusion.. I didn't want to mean "reinstall"... I was trying to say try 'resetting' the internet explorer settings (something like RIES, if I remember from long back)... this you can do from within IE7..

    *sorry for the typo though!*

As Rhodan said, you can't uninstall IE7.. though when doing a complete reinstall using vlite, some people say you could take out IE... but that does not guarantee the stability / performance of the system once you do a complete, clean reinstall of the OS.. IE is a part of the OS.

For resetting, tools > internet options > advanced tab > click Reset Internet Explorer Settings button.. and see if it helps... though I must say this would reset all the settings like history, form data, passwords, appearance, toolbars etc., to their first run state..... But try it out...

lol > I could've anyway posted it as a new post here now that I told you about the previous one and nothing else useful in this... lol.. anyways. See if it helps.
