The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard. Upgrading the GPU would involve desoldering it or buying a new motherboard (I recommend the latter).

What evidence do you have to comfirm 100%? NoSlow who took the photo says he can't tell from looking at that photo.
Thanks. -
Noslow, can you remember whether the board of gpu connected to motherboard by a slot,or just on it?thanks

I would imagine that the glue is there to hold the card in place while being soldered. Dell is smart enough to not use glue to hold down expensive, hot parts, even though the heatsink should theoretically provide enough pressure to keep it stable. -
GPU is locked on motherboad by glue or solder not big difference, some kind of glue is stronger than solder and more difficult to remove.
If you search more view of motherboard i suggest to look repaste XPS15 L701X thread -

If you want a more powerful GPU, then buy a gaming laptop, or one with a MXM slot. Though honestly, with the high price of MXM GPUs, and the fact that they're difficult to find, that not all MXM are compatible with one another, and that even if you did upgrade the MXM GPU, the other components are outdated, the MXM slot just doesn't make that much sense, at least not until they become more widely adopted. Laptops aren't Desktops. Buy what you need in your laptop, and with the exception of RAM or HDD, don't plan on upgrading it much before you buy another.
whether new xps15 l502x graphics mxm port?
