is there a way to tell weather the integrated card or the 555m is running? i tried to look for the thread that shows how to disable the onboard but cant find it..........is it better to disable and just run 555m or better to leave it to choose which it wants? it would just be nice to know which is running and have the quick option to change if i so desire............

You are lucky as you have Optimus. Depending on your needs, I would think that leaving it to Optimus to choose which graphic card to use is the best. You would most probably know which one is running when you use gpu-z or cpu-z? I don't know but it is a wild guess as I don't have Optimus on my machine.

in the control panel, you can click on Desktop and check "Display GPU activity in notification area".

This will create a small icon in your notification area (where the clock is) that tells you what programs are using the nvidia graphics card
