    will any dell reinstallation disk work?

    i have a dell xps m1330 with no operating system installed. originally it came with vista home premium, that's what i have a license for anyway. can i use any version of the dell reinstallation disk to load windows? or only the version it originally came with? will a dell with vista ultimate work? thanks for your help in advance. this is a great forum!

    Yes, You can use any dell reinstallation DVD or Vista DVD for that matter , but you can only install Vista Home Premium 32/64Bit with it . You can install Vista Ultimate if you have bought it separately or you have the license with you .

    Yes I know someone ;) whose M1530 came with home premium installed, and they successfully installed Ultimate off a Dell reinstallation disc, not sure it is legal though

    As long as you have the License for whatever OS you install i see no issue with legality. I could be wrong. I have a dell XP reinstall disk and license ive been tempted to use so I can dual boot both XP and Vista. I technically own the license so I see know reason why I couldn't install it on another machine
