There is no way to know yet. It is possible that they will release new models in later June/July since Montevina is coming out next month. Or they could just put a new motherboard in the current models and keep selling them as is.

The new model should be out late August or September

I'd say there will be something earlier than that, if not upgrades for the M1530.

Would I be able to buy the motherboard online once it comes out lets say and swap it out with my current mobo? Because I just bought the m1530 and not really interested in selling it and buying a new lappy. It'll be worth it for me to buy a new mobo.

would it be compatible with all my current hardware?

    Cheers.

If you are concerned about obsoleteness, don't be. Just last year I was looking into buying a laptop and the best they had for 15" is a 7600 Go. Now, you can get a 9650 with GDDR3. And wireless-N. And integrated bluetooth. And LED backlit displays. And soon, USB 3.0. USB Wireless. Core 4 Quadruple. It goes on and on...

I know, but I want to jump on the montevina bandwagon, so theoretically, can it be done?

No. You wont. Its a completely new chipset, meaning that most likely Dell will redesign the XPS M1530 since Montevina is 25% smaller. Dell might end up choosing to keep the design the same, but dimensions and placement will most definitely be different. If you want to jump on the montevina bandwagon, don't buy one until the new montevina comes out. However, it will be much more costly closer to 2,000 dollar range and you should most definitely not expect great deals like 25% off and such until a year or two after Montevinas release.

You have to consider whether you want to buy now at the best value, and the best of Centrino, or wait and spend a lot for Montevina.

Where are you getting those numbers from? It isn't going to be more costly or Dell would price themselves out of competition. And there will be deals because within a year Nahalem will put out anyhow. This is just a minor upgrade to get ready for Nahalem in Intels 'tick-tock' development phase.

Does Intel sound familiar to you? Yes. The pricing will be around the same as the current Penryns, however Dell will most likely sell them at the same price, except without the 25% to 20% off coupons for their new systems. Dell will never price themselves out of the competition because they have the budget Inspiron line available. Montevina is a huge upgrade with all the features that are in it, awesome battery life, ddr3, etc etc. Nahalem will not be the cause of deals because it is a compliment to Montevina bringing back hyperthreading goodness. The real deals come when Calpella is close to release and is most likely when Dell will once again bring out huge discounts like they are doing now for all the Centrinos. Dell, like most other companies, make their existing tech the cheapest when something new is about to come out. Thats why since Montevina is so close to release, Dell is having huge savings on all the Centrinos that will be replaced by Centrino 2. The same will happen when Calpella comes out. Not Nehalem.
