i have an xps m1530 and my ac adapter died out recently. i looked at the ac adapters listed for my laptop at dell.com and they only had two options available, which i did not like. so i looked at other ac adapters from the website and the ones i like say "product description for dell inspiron, stuido, and latitude laptops" or something similar in that line. i didnt see any for xps, just for inspirons, studio, studio xps, and others. im looking to buy a 90W 3 prong ac adapter and would any 90W 3 prong ac adapter from dell.com work with my xps m1530? any help would be appreciated.

Any 3-prong, 90W Dell adapter made in the past half a decade should work.

But you should make sure that your adapter is dead, and that there's not something wrong with your motherboard; more often than not I feel that the latter is the source of what some might consider power adapter issues.

First, I'm a complete computer idiot. :confused2: Also, my computer is now out of warranty.

I have just run through two adapters for my Inspiron 1525. The 65W refurb replacement (original adapter was 95 watt) from Dell lasted about 2 & 1/2 weeks  and the one I bought to replace that lasted 1 week   . So, yeah, I'm beginning to wonder. Any suggestions on how to go about this? Or could this just be bad luck? I'm open to any advice. *begs*
