I was wondering, you guys think dell will release x9100 for their m1730 like they did with the 8800m's? Would not mind being able to throw one in my 1730, even with my x9000 3.4 there is still some bottlenecking of my 8800m GTX SLI going on, and the x9100 with the 3.06 stock and possibly 3.6 OCed at max (Would undervolt to keep it cool) i would be very happy to see it available. IT seems more viable for this to happen then for the mobile Quad extreme to be adapted for the M1730

Also with the release of the M17 i am curious to how the 3870 Xfire stands up to 8800m GTX SLI setups, never followed the ATI mobility scene so be cool to know where they stand now.

    Post your thoughts,

    D_Sage

EDIT* Found that the 3870 xfire tend to score higher in 3d marks (just below 15k, which is what i get out of my machine atm) but the 8800m GTX SLI and 9800m GT SLI tend to get better in game performances and also run smoother with lower framerates. Also heard Nvidia Forceware is better optimized but thats just rumors.

Yeah problem with ATI on the notebook front is the driver support. I remember when they released the X1800 and X1900, they practically abandonded these GPU´s. This is why I stick with a trusted vendor like Nvidia.

I am afraid the 3870 will hit the same as the x1900 did.

sorry did not mean to be kinda misleading there, i was talking about the x9100 processor, was hopign amybe they did a part buy and self swap like they did with 8700 to 8800m before. Would love an x9100 in my beast, up to 3.6 Undervolt it nice and cool.

x9100 will not work in the 1730. x9000 is as high as it goes

Where is everyone hearing this "3870 drivers suck." BS? Go to guruofgaming. Check the threads for the xfire 3870 scores.
Surely those scores must be beating the SLI 8800GTX,

Yeah but we are talking about the mobile 3870 in crossfire. Crossfire notebooks is new, that´s why I wouldn´t put my money on one. SLI notebooks has existed for a while and outputs great framerates. The drivers are mature for it.

On the other hand you should be able to force install desktop ATI drivers too just like I do with the Nvidia drivers.

The benchmarks so far does not beat out the 8800m GTX SLI if that is what you mean, or did you mean desktop 8800GTX SLI?
