xp l702x 3D GT555M - HDMI not working at all - should it?

I have just bought a second hand l702x. It looks to be working fine but I am unable to get any output from the HDMI at all.

When I purchased it I did a fresh W7 install using the drivers on the Dell site. Not necessarily in the correct order according to some posts but no device manager errors showing.

I am running Adobe Premiere CS6 on the laptop and as part of this I upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers for the 555m (333.21) as Premiere needs drivers from 300 onwards to access Cuda correctly.

As part of the setup I would like to run 2 external monitors whilst turning off the laptop screen. I thought this could be done using the HDMI and display port. The display port works fine acting as second monitor however I am not getting anything out of the HDMI port at all. Tried 3 different HDMI cables 2 of which were 1.4, and 3 different monitors HPLP2465's via HDMI-DVI adaptor. These monitors work fine on the display port.

From what I have read the 3D version should be able to run 2 external monitors but I can't see how at the moment without a USB3.0 HDMI adaptor and that does not have the accelerated video display of the GT555M,

I know this is quite a specific use but if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. On non 3D 702x's you need to first install the intell video driver before the nvidia but not in the case of the 3D or so I have read.

I just tried HDMI out to my Samsung 50" and that works fine so I am thinking it is hdcp related. Funny though as display port out to my HP2465's works fine and I assumed hdcp would be the same on both display port and HDMI.

Has anyone found a solution to hdcp problems on the dvi out?

Having looked at the specs of the HP LP2465 it is not HDCP compliant so that would be the problem. So on the XPS L702X 3D the display port works with non DHCP monitors but the HDMI does not.

At least I can have a working dual monitor setup on the 3D version. I just need to raid the office desks for a HDCP compliant monitor!

 

I got both HP L2465 monitors working now. The problem with the xps HDMI to 2465 monitor not working was not so much HDCP but I was using an hdmi-hdmi cable with an hdmi-dvi adaptor on the monitor. When I replaced this with a single hdmi -dvi cable it worked perfectly.

So the problem was the hdmi-dvi adaptor.
