Yesterday, my LED screen on my 6 month old 1330 crapped out. It picked the absolute -worst- week of the entire year for me... finals weeks. Luckily i was able to plug in my external monitor and concluded that the machine works but the screen doesn't. Called dell tech support, we found the error code
** errror 2000-0326 inverter lamp broke! **
Now I'm waiting for the repair center to call me to make arrangements.
Im writing here to see what to expect from thier repair services. supposedly they ordered a new screen and video card, tho i suspect the video card is fine since my external monitor is fine. Also, is there anything else I can do, short of voiding the warranty, to fix problem?

If it's the inverter is a bad part. Short of replacing it yourself, there's nothing you can do.

well....
(my story) some (idiotic) friend broke the hinge part of my laptop... i had 4-yr warranty + accidental damage + NBD, but Dell Tech wanted me to send my laptop to the depot to be repaired.... short of wasting 7-10 business days without my laptop near the week of finals(college), i asked Dell Tech whether i could repair it myself if they sent me parts... they sent me parts
long story short, after 2 hours, i managed to strip my entire machine and stuff (u need to remove almost the entire display to replace the hinge...
if you manage to get your hands on a part, u can fix it yourself(that is they have parts but their on-site service is so swamped thatn they give you a 2-week waiting period) -
followup- I called Dell sunday night the Banctec repair guy came out today and repalced my screen in 20 min. He would have come yesterday (less then 48 hours after calling) however i wasnt available untill today.
I have to say the Im really impressed with the support that Dell gave me. we hear so much trash talk about Dell, that i feel the need to give them props for this.
And if any new shopper is considering the warranty, I say... absolutely!
