Well you could do the following:

    A. Do the copper mod after they replace the motherboard again.
    B. Replace the motherboard with the integrated Intel graphics version. Dell WILL NOT do it, they replace, never change.
    C. Push them for a replacement.

I took a dead nVidia M1330 and replaced the motherboard with the Intel one and I'm typing on it right now.

I would push them for a replacement. If it's been fixed three times or more and you still have problems they should replace it depending on the tech you get.

you could do exchange for the xps 13 series, supposedly it is better but still has some issues.

If you constantly use the laptop on your lap and it always feels hot you could try getting yourself a laptop rest (with or without additional cooling) as using the laptop on your lap actually blocks the vent holes and prevents proper cooling. I use the Logitech Portable Lapdesk and with the copper mod, my laptop no longer gets hot at all.

Yes I did it myself. The only other thing you need to change is the fan/heat sink unit. The intel board uses a different one. It's not for the faint of heart, there is a LOT of screws. Did I mention it has a LOT of screws? :) Your local computer shop could also replace it for you if you don't want to deal with all those screws and cables.

GM848 - Motherboard with Intel Graphics
    YT243 - Fan/Heat Sink for GM848

It's not giving me the option to PM you. You might have to turn that feature on. Shoot me a private message when you're ready.

He can't recieve PMs cause you need at least 15 posts.

If you're under warranty, talk to Dell about it and they'll take care of you

Well hi, all. I came to the board two years ago when my 1330 started to fritz on me, and after a visit from Dell tech, I did the copper mod. Things lasted well until a few days ago when the mb fried. I purchased the intel integrated graphics board through ebay and the heatsink from dell parts (cheaper than many offered on ebay, go figure), and when they arrive I will try to swap out the nVidia MB for the Intel MB. I gather, Lord Rasta, that the swap was painless for you (except for the screws!). Did you have to reinstall Windows 7 (or Vista, if that's what you're using), or did it find the right drivers when you booted up? Thanks in advance.

I put it all back together, hopefully I put the right screws back in place :) and it booted right into Windows 7 with no issues. If it re-installed any drivers it was transparent to me. Good luck.

Small remark about copper mod: If you do the copper mod, the CPU temperature probably increases because more heat is put into the copper beam by the GPU+copper mod. However, you can decrease the CPU temperature by this method:

    Cheers.
