I ordered the XPS 1340 with the Nividia 512 graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce N10M-GS 512MB). The laptop was shipped with the 9400 graphics card. I called tech and they sent someone out to replace the motherboard/graphics card. First attempt by tech failed because they didn't send a new fan to go with the new mother board.

2nd attempt by tech failed because they send the 9500 series graphics card. They left that one in my comp as an "upgrade" from the previous and ordered the correct graphics card.

3rd attempt failed because they AGAIN sent the 9500 series graphics card.

The best part is that the tech just told me that the n10m card is on hold indefinitely! So they are just shipping out the 9500 as its replacement and they aren't telling the customers!!

    Unbelievable!

I'd encourage everyone who recently ordered their xps with the n10 m graphics card to verify that is what you were shipped.

my wife has the n10, but you have to enable performance boost otherwise it just runs at the 9400 speed and doesn't even show the n10.

if you enable high performance, and the sli boost, then you will have both the n10 and the 9400/9500 in sli.

I also purchased an XPS 1340 with the NVIDIA GeForce N10M-GS 512MB.
I received the laptop today (2-Dec-09) and it says the graphics card is the NVIDIA Ge Force 9400M G. Am I missing something? I have tried to enable the performance boost but I can't figure out how. I messed with the power settings but that didn't do anything. There is also an NVIDIA icon in the system tray that says "Graphics mode: Save Power" but I don't know how to change it.

I assume I have the wrong graphics card. Obviously I want the graphics card I paid for. Anyone have advice on what I should do?

I also received my XPS 1340 today and until I found this post - thought Dell had put the wrong graphics card in.

Thanks to hanming for posting that link and saving me from frustration. I've now edited the registry, restarted and my laptop now displays as a G210M 512MB card with my Windows Experience Index now up to 5.8. Few! I thought Dell had messed up again. :D

Thanks to everyone...I have fixed my problem. Before following the link provided by 'hanming' I couldn't enable performance boost and the Device Manager only showed NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G. I thought Dell had shipped me the wrong card. But after the simple registry change (explained in 'hanming's' link) everything is working great.

Now I can switch in and out of Power Save and Boost Performance mode. The device manager now lists both NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G and NVIDIA GeForce G210M (which is also codename NVIDIA GeForce N10M-GS. see http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-G-210M.17638.0.html).

Also, when I open the NVIDIA Control Panel and select "System Information" on the bottom left, it shows the details for the 9400M G and the G210M.

Thanks everyone. It turns out that it is a Windows 7 problem that can be fixed in the registry and not just Dell shipping the wrong graphics card.

    Blessed Union!

So how much of a performance gain do you get from the 9500MG to the G210M?
Sometimes I get the urge to game when I'm on the road any chance they can handle some of the newer games?

210m has around 1000 more 3dmark06 than the 9500m GE. I am playing Devil May Cry 4 with no AA and high on shadow without a problem.

Does anyone know how to toggle between "Save Power" and "Boost Performance" mode susing the keyboard? If there is no way on the keyboard, is there a way to do it without going to the Power Settings and tweaking the Power Plan?

My 1 month old laptop just returned from depot after a lcd replacement.
Now when I boost the performance button, the laptop hangs for few minutes and even after that I still see 9400 as my card not the n10. that means it just goes back to 9400 setting. what's wrong?

UPDATE: Digging deeper I saw that laptop which had came with BIOS ver. A11 now carries A04 and the problem was solved with that update.

Now I am wondering what else I have to update. Is there a way to know, or should I just do a system restore?
