Hi
I have just received my refurbished xps14z and as usual its full of bloatware and crap programs.
my last dell(a refurb xps1340) came with OS discs and a driver disc.
This new one doesnt ( though i have burnt the recovery discs)
with the old dell i did a clean windows install, loaded the drivers and progs i wanted and then ghosted the image onto a partition of the hard drive and onto a portable hard drive.
The xps14z has a recovery partition. So I can get teh computer up and running but in the Dell factory state.
Ghost has decided not work on this machine so i have now started with Macrim Reflect (free)
My Questions are:
1) if i do a clean windows install I presume that it will not affect the recovery position?
2) using macrium I presume i can create a back up image of just the "data" partitionand not bother with the recovery partition?
3) would i be better off reformatting the entire drive, clean installing windows running a Macrium image and storing that on a partition of the drive?
4) if so could i create a recovery partion with that macrium image?
sorry for so many questions but after wasting 2 days on ghost images, failed macrium backups and reinstalling windows and dell data recovery (before i even start removing bloatware and loading progs) I thought it time to ask the experts!
Thanks in advance
