Dell Outlet Sales (866-492-6721) just confirmed ALL of the xps 15s in inventory are the 15.6 HDF LCD screens. That is, they are 1366x768.

I told them I wanted to purchase an xps 15 and my only requirement was that I wanted a 15.6 FHD LCD screen, and they did not have any.

I then called Dell Parts (x7244161) and asked if they had any 15.6 FHD LCD screens in stock. They do, but they are super-expensive!

    15.6 HDF (Parts # iJC2N) ... $99.99 (1366x768)
    15.6 FHD (Parts # X7C4) ... $364.99 (1920x1080)

Hope this info helps members considering purchase of xps 15 Outlet systems, and then replacing their 1366x768 LCD screen with the higher res 1920x1080 LCD screen.

Are the connectors in the right location? are they the correct length?
Dell has been known to order custom LCD panels for their laptops.

If the OEM B156HW01 v4 panel actually fits, it certainly is far less expensive at 100 euros than buying the 15.6 FHD panel from Dell Parts for $365.

Of course, the Dell Part is warrantied for the balance of the laptop warranty, whereas the OEM B156HW01 v4 panel is limited to the mfr warranty.

Rather than buying a refurb xps 15 with the 1366x768 15.6 HDF LCD panel - and then replacing it with a 1920x1080 FHD LCD, it may make more sense to just buy a new xps 15 with the 15.6 FHD 1920x1080 panel, if as some have said, the 15.6 FHD panel is again available to order on new xps 15 systems. Assuming their price has not increased, they were a $130 upgrade in US when the xps 15 was intro in Nov. 2010.

The $195 1080p LCD option may not be the awesome AUO17ED (mfr ID) screen.
    It may be a substitute.

If Dell Parts is selling the AUO17ED LCD part for $365, why would Sales sell the same high quality screen for $195?

Remember the crappy 720p LCD is only $99 at Dell Parts. So its not like Dell Parts is inflating the prices.
