xps 1530 battery life with extended 9 cells

How much battery life would be if I buy 9 cells extended battery with 6 cells already in xps?

total : 15 cells.

 

probably about 12 hours.

My laptop with 12 cell extended battery + 6 cell primary battery gets 13 and a half hours with light usage, and about 4 - 5 hours gaming

 

As far as I'm aware the only battery's you can buy for the xps 1530 is a 9cell and a 6cell. I have not heard of, or seen any extended batterys that fit it. (though if you find one please tell)

So I assume you mean having both a 6 cell and a 9 cell?

I have the nine cell battery (t8300, 8600m gt) with these components I get about 4 - 5 hours on powersaver mode.

I imagine you would get about two - three hours with a 6 cell..
So if you have both batteries you should get abourt 6 - 8 of battery life.

 

I am not sure too.. but when i tried to customize xps 1530 online .. then I had only one option of battery.. that was 6 cells and and next page I had option to order an extended battery so I assume these are two different batteries at the same time.

The extended battery is just a 9-cell battery. You can't have 2 batteries in the M1530 (however some other computers, you can, in the CD-ROM bay). They aren't two different batteries at the same time.

 

Hmm then their shopping cart is not correctly configured...

because its not giving me option to choose 6 or 9 cells battery as primary.
And for secondary battery only 9 cells options is available.

Yes its a secondary battery, as in you would have two seperate batteries. Its not an extended as some other laptops can have.

If I were you I wouldn't bother buying the 6 cell, just buy the nine cell, 4-5 hours isn't bad.

 

Well, I think here comes the problem..
because shopping cart doesn't allow me only single option as primary battery that is 6 cells. Then in optional part on next page I can select 9 cells as 'secondary' battery.

Hmm that is funny,
I personally only use the online congfiguration to get a basic idea of the price, then I order over the phone, I find the online one is a bit buggy at times, like this.

I assume you wan't to get the nine cell battery, right?
I'd ring dell up and order that way.

Whats the best way to charge you 9 cell? Laptop off mains power in? Anyone know how long a 9 cell should last? I have my screen brightness right down but it only seems to last for a couple of hours?? My 9 cell that is!

 

9 Cell usually lasts 3.5 ~ 4 hours, that is on high prformance mode...
Lasts like an hour more or 1.5 more on battery saver.

If you game, obviously it'll be reduced to 1/2 or more.

 

I don't think mines holding a charge for long enough? I have a T61p and that has an extended battery that lasts 4 hours or so....

I may charge the XPS fully and time how long it takes before it powers off on me, if I game I'm plugged in..

I think its not holding enough...
Mine's an estimate, though I used it without the plug while on college and, yes thats about what i got... It depends though, on applications running, etc... multimedia, movies, things like that...
My best has been 3.5 hours... (on high performance)
my worst has been 2...(also on high performance with some gaming and lots of multimedia)

by the way yes, i also game only when plugged in...
the times i gamed on battery was just to show off a bit >_>
