My xps 1530 is about a year old. The hard drive has failed 3 times now. The first two times I got a bit of advance warning with blue screens and error messages. This time no warning. Rebot and error message that hard drive can not be found. I tried reseating the drive a few times and nothing. I have the solid state hard drives.

Is this a problem of the hard drive or the lap top? Can I request a regular hard drive from dell this time?

Any input would be great. My IT support person is loosing patients...

    Thanks in advance

    Doug

To be honest, solid state technology just isn't all that reliable yet. I'd ask Dell to refund you the money you spent on the SSD and get your own drive.

I'm pretty sure that out of all the SSD drives that NBR has reviewed, most of them have already failed. None of them were more than two years old. You can ask JerryJ if you want to double check me on that, since I don't work in their office.

Yeh I am ready to be done with the solid state drive... will a regular drive go in the same hard drive bay? Will it hook up the same? My IT was not sure.... thanks so much guys...

I did a bit of research on the boards. I see there may be an issue with the 1530 running hot. Someone recommend down grading the bios to A9.

    Thanks in advance
