    xps 1530 slow newsgroup speed

    hi all,

    just got my new xps 1530 from dell outlet-

    core 2 duo 9300
    4gb ram
    500 gb hardrive
    8600 graphics

    i was hoping that this would blow my desktop clean away as my desktop is amd 2500 barton 3 gb ram runninig xp, when using newsbin pro on my desktop i can download at a constant 18.8 Mbps but the same programme with same setting running on my xps will only get 13.5 Mbps, is this an xp vista problem, i am wondering if i should put xp laptop , but i have installed lots of files and programmes now so i dont want to format.

    wired or Wireless ? If you are connecting your M1530 over wireless, then test it over the wire and see if the speed improves.

    ok i will try, i am wireless at the moment. just ran 3dmark05 on both machines and to my surprise my 5 year old desktop was only a 1000 marks behind my supposedly superfast laptop ! my laptop scored 4985, is there another benchmark programme i can use?
