What are pros and cons of having xps 1530 over latitude e6500 and price is nearly same for both.
-
if the specs are similar the e6500 beats the xps 1530m hands down.
the cons of the e6500 are that to configure a system of similar specs it costs more..
XPS: older santa rosa platform (800MHz FSB)
E6500: newer montevina platform (1066MHz FSB)
XPS: Intel 4965AGN
E6500: Intel 5300AGN
XPS: DDR2 RAM
E6500: DDR3 RAM (lower voltage, higher clock)
I think the E6500 is about a pound lighter.
Both have the LED backlight.
I found the price to be ~300$ more on the E6500 though -

Yeah as a business laptop maybe (assuming you wanted long battery life) for gaming and so on the 1530 would cripple the e6500.
the e6500 is (at best) configurable with a 64bit nvs160m which is a very weak card. So the xps would win hands down. -
Actually I am very very newbie at laptops so I am trying to digest the information this forum has. (I love this forum).
I am leaning towards xps only because its design looks good otherwise E6500 is very good notebook.
What I have learned till now about xps over E6500.
Pros:
its stylish (with colors option)
good graphics card
web cam
finger print reader
Cons:
battery life is way less compared with e6500
I am intended to learn more valuable stuff about comparison between these both notebooks.
Thanks. -

Yep basically
Xps 1530 versus E6500
xps - old santa rosa platform (less power efficient)
e6500 - new montevina platform (more power efficient)
xps - gaming graphics card
e6500 - (very) basic graphics card
xps - stylish appearance
e6500 - business appearance
xps - cheaper for same
e6500 - more expensive for same
xps - at most 4-5 hours on powersaver
e6500 - up to 19 hours with battery slice
Thats really all that would factor into my mind when buying a laptop. -
Hmm then summary is pretty much like
XPS:
Its pro gaming notebooks so has good graphics card so is less power efficient which results in lower battery life.
and E6500 is nearly opposite. -

pretty much yeah,
Though one last thing, the 1530's graphics card has a design flaw that could cause it to fail anytime, (well we know older ones certainly have the issue, Nobody's sure about the current shipped ones)
You might want to also take that into consideration, I personally just got an extended warranty, if it fails I'll just fire it back into dell. -
Would you say overall build quality is similar?
-
idk about the e6500 but ive heard they have good build quality and i know the xps does, i have a new xps and so far the GPU has been running good so i am hoping its true that newer ones are not faulty. And yea battery life is much weaker on the xps but when i am doing gaming or anything like that i plug it in anyway so its not a big deal.
