I just ordered an xps 16 a few weeks ago and I've been having a lot of troubles with the blu-ray drive.
The first blu ray drive worked with about 3 disks and the 3rd disk became stuck and I couldn't get it out, so I got it replaced. The drive would seem to make noise as if it was trying to eject something over and over but it wouldn't actually eject
My new drive worked for 2 disks and again is not working in the same fashion as the first.
I tried holding the button down on boot and ejecting from windows to no avail.
I have 64 bit windows vista and when I tried flashing the drive it said "target Optiarc BC-5600 is not found correctly"
    Any ideas?

Not sure if this is the one you tried, but this should be it (most recent firmware update)... if its not, it wont permit the flash.

    OPTIARC BC-5600S 12.7mm SATA Slotload BD-Combo

Since they replaced it, you might want to pull it and verify they actually sent you an Optiarc - since you received that first error about it not being found. They may have sent you a different model/make BluRay.

If you still cannot resolve it, just call them up again. Dell is usually really quick on dispatching out replacment optical drives.
