Is this machine run too hot to have on your lap?

I currently have a 5 day old m17x and am considering downgrading to a xps 1645.

if the machine runs so hot i cannot use it on my lap it could be show stopper

Are you asking about the 1647 with i5 or the 1645? I know my 1645 gets too hot to use in my lap, and would reckon the 1647 would be the same way. The underbody on all of the 16xx series is aluminum, so it conducts heat well, meaning it gets HOT!

Just to clear things up, the 1645's have the i7's and the 1647's have the i5's. Also, you can no longer get the RGBLED for the 1645...

Correction, 1645 has i7 720qm or 820qm, 1647 has i5 or i7 620m (and in argentina and maybe other places you can get it with i3)

The only difference is the processor type. As JKleiss stated above, the 1645 only has quad cores while the 1647 features dual core i5 and i7 processors.
