does anyone else have this problem?

how do i get it fixed? would a technician need to disassemble my entire laptop and move the motherboard, etc... onto a new base? or is it just a new cover replacement

Well...if I am getting it right, your laptop wobbles when you put it on a surface right? If that's the problem, then just relax :). You will find four rubber feet at the bottom of the laptop: two on the metal base cover( the one at the bottom of the chasis), and two on the two plastic hinge covers at the two upper corners of the laptop chasis. The technician will simply have to replace the metal base cover, and/or the hinge caps to fix the issue. There is absolutely no need to remove the motherboard from the main chasis. Check if the chasis is bent anywhere, which is unlikely as then the palmrest will either crack or come out of allignment. So there is absolutely no need to remove any internal part from the main chasis to fix the wobbling issue, unless you have a bent chasis. Just run your fingers along the edges where the ports are located to check if the main chasis is bent. But as I said it is unlikely. You would have noticed it by now, and the palmrest would also be out of alignment or cracked if that had been the issue. Between, when you call Dell, make sure you ask them to send both the bottom cover and the side hinge covers. Replacing all three is a better idea, and is likely to give you a better allignment. Cheers :).
