and does the pm965 chipset of 1730 support ddr2 800? or 667 is highest i can go?

No SLI 260 GTX unless Dell makes an SLI 260 GTX for the M1730. I'm sure it's possible for them to do that, but highly improbable. The PM965 supports DDR2 up to speeds of 667MHz. You can use 800MHz DDR2, but it won't run any faster than 667MHz.

Yes, 667MHz is the fastest it'll go. Honestly, it's not going to make a noticeable difference going from 667MHz to 800MHz.

Dell offers 6gb 800mhz in it so i am thinking that it will run at that clock speed.

It can't as far as the Intel Chipset specs are concerned. More than likely its a Dell technical goof which still has not been corrected. I'm betting they will just D/C to 667. We shall see - as wolf stated, you aren't going to notice a difference either way. Just a number.

I put 4gb ddr2 6400 from 4gb ddr2 5300 in a 1530 and it had a very slight improvement not hardly noticeable but there was just a tiny bit and is running at 667

There's no improvement. 4GB of DDR2-6400 in an M1530 will run at DDR2-5300 speed. Honestly, it's probably just placebo effect. You bought faster RAM, and so you think your computer is faster, even though it's still the exact same speed it's always been.

The only thing that might possibly make any difference is latency. If you went from 667MHz with 5-5-5-15 latency to 667MHz with 4-4-4-12, then that's technically an improvement, although certainly nothing detectable to the naked eye, and will barely merit a few points in synthetic benchmarks.
