I successfully installed the 950 Pro and the 850 EVO to replace the stock storage. I installed the OS on the 950 and use the 850 for media storage.

In the summer months I am getting random system hangs where windows will become unresponsive. I can still move the mouse around and effect parts of the OS but as time progresses a couple of minutes windows becomes totally locked up.

In the winter months though, the computer operates without any issues. The issue only happens when ambient room temperature is above 80F.

The case is clean, no dust.

    System info:
    Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)
    System Model: XPS 15 9550
    BIOS: 1.4.0 (type: UEFI)
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

Any thoughts on what is causing this issue?

    Thanks

I am getting some hangups recently on my 9550 using Edge and computer crashed last night. Not sure if that is the same as your problem.

If this is a problem over the past few months only, might be a Windows build 1709 or a driver issue

No...the problem started last summer, went away during the winter and is back now.

Might just be random. The difference between a heated home at 21 degrees Celsius and an ambient summer temperate of 26-27 degrees Celsius is really minor. It shouldn't make a difference for your system, unless it is constantly running at 95+ degrees Celsius, after which the ambient temperature delta would tip it over the max TJunction.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to remove the 2.2 Samsung driver and am running into the same problem as the person in post #84. I followed your uninstall directions from post #83 but when I go to install the 2.0 driver it lets me select a language and them the prompt just reads “reboot is required”. Thoughts?

Could you please provide a link for the nvme 2.0.0.1607 driver? The link Schmoo2k provides is for version 2.1.0.1611. I cannot find 2.0.0.1607 anywhere. Thanks

Thank you for your prompt response. It's weird, when I go to device manager and right-click the Samsung NVME driver it shows that 2.1.0.1611 is installed. However, when I go to control panel, then programs and features it lists that the Samsung driver as 2.0.0.1607. Not sure why there's a discrepancy in the 2 locations.

Update: So going into Samsung Magician software it list the driver as 2.1.0.1611. Followed your instructions twice to downgrade the driver, no change in result

When you downgrade make sure you click the box to "uninstall" the software as well?

I deleted the software now the pc can't get past the boot up screen

Edit: I'm able to get my computer back up by performing a system restore. When I hit the check box to uninstall the software after already installing 2.0. The pc get stuck at the Dell logo. When I uninstall 2.1 without checking the box. 2.1 remains despite having 2.0 installed. Not sure what to do next, might jus deal with 2.1 and see it works better than 3.0 for me

Edit 2: I finally was able to resolve the issue.
