    Hi everyone,

I bought my system on June and currently I am facing some problem with my M1530. The laptop always freeze whenever I launch IE/firefox so every time I have to press the power button to switch it off. However, things are fine with I start windows using safe mode. I reformatted my laptop once 1 month ago so I was wondering what problem am I facing? I am guessing these prob: 1) mcafee antivirus 2) vista or 3) problem with NVIDIA graphic card. Thanks everyone for your input!

    My specs:
    Core 2 duo 2.4ghz
    256 NVIDIA graphic card
    320 GB Hard Disk
    Intel Wireless N
    15.4" 1900 x 1200 lcd screen

    Not #3.

Have you tried reinstalling the programs? Or using another browser? Does that fix the problem?

I have installed all the drivers and it worked fine for about 1 month before this problem occur few days ago. It also freezes when I print something, or basically it freezes when I open more than 2 applications. Is there any possibility that hardware problem can be one of the reasons?

have you tried unnstalling the drivers, and reinstalling them? i agree with Polarix, it has nothing to do with the graphics card. try disabling or uninstalling mcafee and see how things run. (i uninstalled mcafee as soon as i got my laptop running)

Did you undervolt? If yes,try to raise the voltage a bit. I used to have strange freezes usually when i was gaming. I raised the voltage and the freezing is gone..

Thanks for everyone's reply. I did not undervolt my laptop. I have uninstalled McAfee and currently my laptop works great looks stable. I suppose it's kind of risky to use my laptop without any anti virus software. Which anti-virus software do you guys recommend?

    You should have a anti-virus program! ;) :)

Check this linky: there is some good info there for free anti-virus software!

**Avira and AVG seem to be pretty popular!

I use what came with my lappy: Trend Micro..which can be bothersome at times..but it was included..so, I use it!~ ;) :)

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

This may sound dumb, but i dont use antivirus software..except windows defender if that even counts, i have firewalls set up in my computer, my router has one as well. i think its just going to safe websites and watching what you DL. i havent had a virus for about 1.5 years? i occasionally run spybot and go to mcafee to run a free scan there.
